AIGA Baltimore Letterpress Series

Just thought I would let you all know that I am running a Letterpress Series.
August 25: Letterpress Tour at Gilah Press + Design
Started by MICA alum Kat Feuerstein, Gilah Press + Design uses letterpresses from the late 1800s and early 1900s to create all types of printed pieces ranging from greeting cards, invitations, business cards and stationery. Come smell the ink, take a tour of the shop and learn the workings of modern day letterpress printing.
September 11: Photopolymer Workshop
This is your chance to print your very own design with photopolymer at Typecast Press. Mary Mashburn will show you step by step how to print with photopolymer plates. Design a postcard around the theme of “Baltimore,” and at the end of the day, you will receive a full set of postcards from all the workshop participants!
September 18: Handset Type Workshop
Handset type and learn about traditional letterpress printing at Lead Graffiti. You will create three copies of an accordion style book around the theme of design. Plus, you might even get your name set from the linecaster machine (if the machine is feeling up to it that day)!
September 28: Shop Talk
Kat Feuerstein of Gilah Press + Design, Mary Mashburn and Shop Boy of Typecast Press and Ray Nichols of Lead Graffiti will share their love and war letterpress stories, tips and tricks and answer all your questions!
Visit the AIGA Baltimore site for more information on the events, and I hope to see you there!

Alissa,
I received the Letterpress Series piece in the mail a few days ago and wanted to compliment you on a job well done!
Fantastic design, and it must have been an awesome feeling to get the final, letter pressed piece in your hands after having designed it, I’m envious!
We just meet on the SCAD chat. So you coordinated the Letterpress Series? I was going to attend, but my schedule got busy. I am actually getting a Chandler press this September. It sounds like we have a lot in common. I will be in touch.
