If you love letterpress prints

If you love letterpress printing and want to learn how to do it, check out Typecast Press of Baltimore. Mary Mashburn and her husband, Steve St. Angelo gave a letterpress workshop this weekend. At this workshop, BethAnne Hoffmann of Purple Skirt Press, also took part and taught how to bind a book by hand. Even though I have done some bookmaking in the past, I learned some new tips and a new stitch. This workshop was over two days and we made one book with a letterpress printed cover and two-color bookplates. Mary, Steve (aka. Shop Boy) and BethAnne were a great team. We got a lot of hands on experience. Some might feel the cost is a little steep, but I think the price was well worth it.

This was my lockup for my book cover. We worked on two Vandercook presses and used Mary’s collection of type (I also borrowed a cute little owl block of her’s.)
Here are the bookplates and the final book.
