Obama Branding Top 10

Barack Obama has strategically branded himself like a commercial product. From the beginning, “change” has been the unchanging message, and consistency has been impeccably controlled through the rising sun mark and typography. The successful branding has generated international attention. I have come across lot of good articles and websites covering the 2008 presidential race, so these are my top ten favorites.

Social Studies Conference

This weekend, I attended the conference Social Studies: Educating Designers in a Connected World. There were many sessions to choose from, and I had a difficult time deciding which ones to attend. Even though the speakers were focusing on educators, it still gave me inspiration even as a professional in the field. Here is some of what I gleaned from the sessions.

Design Center Brainstorming Meeting

Thank you to those who could make it tonight. Your ideas and feedback are very helpful. To those who couldn’t make it, read below and hopefully this will make you feel like you didn’t miss out.

This summary sheet was given out at tonight’s meeting.

More Than Problem Solvers

Everyone always says we are problem solvers. Is that really the best description of graphic designers? The term problem solver could really apply to many occupations. When you have a leaky roof, you call a roofer to fix the leak. When you feel sick, a doctor will make you well again. When you need a package to travel across the country and arrive tomorrow, a delivery service will solve your problem. The term “problem solver” for graphic designers is too general.
